Here’s the first trick you need to know. Actually, it’s not really a trick, but rather a tricky situation when it comes to picking out tea tree oil for skin tag removal.

How can it be tricky to pick TTO (tea tree oil)? It can be tricky because there’s a bunch of selection out there in terms of brands. If you go to two different drug stores/superstores, you’ll notice there are different brands of tea tree oil. You might be thinking that the brand shouldn’t matter because tea tree oil is just tea tree oil; there should be no difference.

That thinking is the tricky part. The problem is there is a difference. Tea tree oil is indeed just tea tree oil. However, some brands like to mix it with cheaper oils. This dilutes the tto, making it less effective due to less pure tea tree oil.

What you’ll want to look on the product packaging is some sort of statement saying that it’s pure 100% therapeutic tea tree oil. You’ll also want to look at the ingredients and see if there’s any other oil besides tea tree oil. Anything that is mixed with another oil should be disregarded and ignored. You’re looking for the purest tea tree oil you can find for maximum potency, so don’t waste your time and your money on anything else that has been diluted.

With so much potential problems finding pure tea tree oil, where can you buy some? Well you can definitely search around your local drugstores, etc. The problem is, I can’t really speak for them because I’ve had bad luck with them before. I like to just order mine online because I get the brand that I know works every single time. Plus I don’t have to waste time driving to the store.

Once you have the right tea tree oil picked, you also two other items. You’ll want to get yourself some waterproof bandage tape and some cotton balls.

How to use Tea Tree Oil for Skin Tags

  1. The first thing you should do is look at your skin tag carefully and determine its size.
  2. Take a clean cotton ball and pinch off a portion just big enough to cover your skin tag that is to be treated.
  3. Cut a few pieces of the water proof tape. Make sure they’re long enough to hold the cotton piece on to your skin. You’ll want enough tape to cover the skin tag, so it’s almost air tight.
  4. Add a few drops of the tea tree oil on the piece of cotton you pinched off in step 2. You need to make sure you add enough drops of the oil to soak the piece of cotton. Add a few more drops if needed.
  5. Place the tea tree oil soaked piece of cotton over the skin tag. Be very careful with your placement because you don’t want to accidentally place the tto on the healthy skin. Doing that can potentially bun the healthy skin.
  6. Hold the tto soaked cotton in place over the skin tag using the pieces of waterproof bandage tape you pre-cut earlier in step 3. Do you best to cover it up, so the cotton does not dry out over night.
  7. If you are treating multiple skin tags at once, you will have to repeat steps 1 through 6 for each skin tag. To simplify things, you can prepare your tape and cotton balls ahead of time for all the skin tags you intend to treat.
  8. Leave it on overnight and remove it in the morning.
  9. Wash it off and cover it up with a clean band-aide.
  10. Repeat all the steps until the skin tag turns dark and falls off by itself, or with little force.

Other online resources mention that you can also mix your own TTO mixture by combining it with another beneficial carrier oil. Doing do helps reduce the risks of a chemical burn and if you mix it with the right oil, it can help the tto work even faster.

That’s about it for using tea tree oil to remove skin tags. Don’t skip treatments and use the right stuff like I said above and you’ll get there in time. Also have realistic expectations and give it some time to work its magic. I would say give it at least 3 weeks for normal sized skin tags and even longer than that for larger skin tags.
